My (Apparent) Death Wish

Roll The Film:
Apparently I have a death wish.  We recently upgraded our cable box to a new one, so I had to go in and try to remember all the shows we had set up to record. I missed one and now I'm in trouble.  I guess the fact that it is available on demand just isn't good enough. I'm sure I will get the death stare just for writing this but it needs to told. I'm not saying she's going to kill me, but if I go missing you know where to start the questioning.

Riddle Me This:
So I officially have my first question.  The questioner wants to know what fantasy football is and what's the allure of it.  Well I'm a little to tired to hammer that one out tonight.  Tomorrows blog will give it a full break down. It will include what it is, how it's scored, and why it is so appealing to the avid sports watcher and the casual fan. Tonight though, suffice it to say I will cover it tomorrow.

The Finished Product:
Well the Pilot got out of the shop today.  It's a good thing we took it in right away.  When the mechanic checked the transmission fluid, it was barely registering on the dip stick.  If we had driven it another day we probably would have ruined the transmission. That would have equated to staring a $3500 bill in the face.  I guess I have two kidneys and only need one. I hear they fetch a good price so I will have to keep my options open.

Final Cut:
Well that's the end of the roll for tonight.  Tune in tomorrow for the first answer to my first question and who knows what else.  You never know, I may have sold one of my kidneys by then.  Once again thank you for reading my wondering thoughts.

Sunday, The Beginning That Is The End.

Sunday is coming to a close. It signals the beginning of a new week but the end of the weekend. Overall it was a good day filled with good friends, good food, and of course good football. As the weekend draws to a close there aren't to many things rolling around my mind tonight so it should be a short and sweet entry for everyone.

The Children Are Running The Show:
Today in church was our Primary Program.  What that is is a program where the children of the church, between the ages of 3 to 11, have small talking assignments and they sing several hymns.  My wife is the leader of the Primary in our church and therefore in charge of planning and coordinating the entire program.  Now she had hoped for it to go off without a hitch, but to be honest no one watches it to see it go perfectly.  Everyone comes to watch to see the small kids have a hard time containing themselves while being in front of everybody.  I've learned to look at the kids that have been assigned to sit next to one of the adults.  I've found they have been set there for a reason.  They jump up and down, wave, make faces, bug their neighbor, and just over all act like a kid in every possible way.  One of the kids today decided he needed to yell his part into the microphone.  As soon as he started yelling his teacher backed him up and explained to him not to yell and let him step back up to the mic.  Well apparently the message wasn't clear enough because this time he decided he needed to yell louder.  It was very entertaining to say the least.

Three For Three:
For those of you that were following along, I did end up going the distance. As previously mentioned the 49ers won Thursday, the Aggies won Friday, and to this point I am beating my wife in our fantasy football match up by 69 points. She has one more player to play tomorrow night.  It is Drew Brees for the New Orleans Saints.  Just to put it in perspective of how hard that would be to beat me, in week 1 Peyton Manning had 7 touchdown passes for 460 yards and only scored 53 points.  So I'm chalking this one to a win and if something incredible happens there may not be a blog tomorrow night while I sulk about it.

Sunday Dinner:
After church we went for a little drive to our friends house that live about 20 minutes away.  We took over ingredients to make Zupa Tuscana for dinner. We got there and turned on the games and waited while our wives made the soup. They also made a cake called "Better Than Sex Cake."  It is a chocolate cake that when it comes out of the oven you poke a bunch of toothpick holes in it and drizzle chocolate syrup all over it. After you put the syrup all over it you put it in the fridge to cool. after it has cooled down you spread cool whip all over the top, sprinkle toffee bits on it, and then drizzle it with chocolate and caramel syrup on top of it all.  It is to die for, literally.  If you eat enough of you may actually have a heart attack.  So between some good games on TV and the good food, Sunday turned out to be pretty good.

Close The Shutters:
Well that wraps it up for tonight. I've emptied out everything that was lurking in the corners of my brain from today. I guess that says a lot about the contents of my mind.... I may need to put a lot more effort in consuming my brain cells with more important stuff like whether I should have a regular corn dog or a jalapeƱo corn dog for lunch tomorrow. Those are the kind of decisions that can take you far in life. Until next time enjoy the end of the weekend and the beginning of the new week.

12:25 Oops!

Well darn! I missed a day technically. But I'm gonna go ahead and count this as Saturday's blog because it is still before I've gone to sleep for Saturday.

I've Been Framed:
Well as I said yesterday I went up to Pocatello today and helped my cousin reframe a wall in his basement and put some sheetrock up.  I wasn't to bad, but I was a little off center. It was apparent that I was out of practice. Overall it turned out alright and the best part is that because I didn't do an A+ job maybe I won't be asked again haha.

Late Night At Walmart:
So I had to run an errand to Walmart to pick up something specifically for my wife. I know we've all seen the posts about "The people of Walmart", but it never ceases to amaze me the people you see every time you go.  Especially when  you go after 10:30 pm.  I saw a guy and his mom there tonight.  Both were bigger and hairier so they looked of the same gene pool. Then I saw something that has left me scarred for life.... He leaned in and gave her a kiss.  Good on them for finding love, but please keep the kissing in private. I know I shouldn't judge, but it was an involuntary gut reaction for me to gag a little.

We're Going To Steal The Moon:
My little girl has discovered Despicable Me and She loves it.  I'm completely happy to let her watch it over and over. It is one of my all time favorite animated movies.  Vector's squid launcher is the best non lethal villain weapon ever.  I dare you to challenge my findings.  The only downside to my girl watching this movie is that she wants the kitten finger puppet book. I can't find it anywhere. If any of you can find it let me know.

10-4 Big Buddy Over And Out:
Well the old eyelids are getting heavy so I'm going to close them and pass out. Thanks again for reading my rambling thoughts. Tomorrow we get to see if all my teams have won for the week. Once again please share if you found it even remotely worth your time, or if it was painful to read you can share it just to play a joke on someone and pass on the misery.

Finally Friday

Well it's here. Friday night finally graced us with it's presence.  Been an interesting week overall. On Monday I decided I was going to start this blog as a place clear my at the end of the day. Tuesday I did research on what server I was going to use and trying to come up a name for the blog. Wednesday I put it all together and made my first post. Thursday I kept it going by writing two days in a row. Now Friday is here and I'm following through on my goal of writing everyday still.  So without further adieu, here's Friday's post.

Machete Kills:
I don't know how many of you have seen the movie trailer for this film, but I am left speechless except for wow.  I mean I won't lie, Charlie Sheen as POTUS would be pretty entertaining. Nobody messes with a man who just doesn't care about anything but him self. You ad that in with the fact that as POTUS he would have unlimited resources and potential for destruction. I will admit it would probably end with the collapse society around the world, but it would be a wild ride while it lasted.

Car Problems:
So on a sour note for this week, the radiator on my new car went out yesterday.  When I say new car, I mean new to me.  I did all this research on this vehicle before we committed to getting it. The few problems reported where about a leak in the transmission that caused it to fail.  So as soon as I bought it I took it in and had the transmission flushed and completely checked. I had the timing belt done and a full tune up.  Well a red fluid started dripping out from under the hood. I opened it up and it was spilling out of the radiator and the overflow for the radiator.  The bad news is that coolant isn't red. So I called our mechanic and he said to drive it straight there.  Anyway, upon inspection there was a crack in the radiator that was allowing the transmission fluid to flow into the radiator. the transmission has a higher pressure than the radiator exactly for this reason. That way if there happens to be a crack in the radiator the coolant doesn't leak into the transmission because it will ruin it very quickly. So the conclusion the mechanic and I came to is that the people complaining about the leak causing their transmission to go out must not have caught it very early. The reason we came to that is because takes a few days of driving it like that for the pressure to reduce enough in the transmission for the coolant to back flow to the radiator. So the good news is that I don't have to have the transmission replaced. The bad news is that I do have to replace the radiator. Luckily the bill is only 1/6 of what the transmission would have cost.

Flooded Basement:
With all the rain recently, my cousins basement has been getting flooded.  Now as if that isn't bad enough, they actually don't live in their house right now. They are currently living in Texas while finishing school and getting a job down there. So they have renters right now and they said if they didn't fix it within the next week they would move out.  So He drove up from Texas on Thursday and has been working on it all of today. I'm going up tomorrow to help him frame up a few new walls and drywall them.  I was going tonight after work to help him through the night and tomorrow, but with only one car I had to stay home for the night because the car was needed elsewhere.  When I called him earlier today and told him what was going on he was relieved. When he got there it wasn't nearly bad as the tenants were saying it was. So it shouldn't be to bad of a job when I get up there.

Relaxing Weekend:
So other than the stress of the car repair and going to help with my cousins flooded basement, it should be a pretty relaxing weekend.  My 49ers won last night and up to the point of me writing this, the USU Aggies are looking like they are going to win tonight as they are up 40-12 with 3 minutes left in the game.  The only game left I have to worry about is my fantasy football game. I've already got a pretty good start from my player on that played on Thursday night. Not to mention I'm not to worried since my opponent this week is 1-2 and is my wife. So I'm planning on my teams going 3-0 this week. That all ads up to a relaxing weekend for me. It's final now, The Aggies did win 40-12.

Appreciation:
I just wanted to thank everyone who has been checking this out and reading through it. I'm hoping to to get better and make them more interesting everytime. I'm hoping eventually I get to the point where people want to ask questions so we can have some interaction. My wife wants me to start a blog strictly about answering questions and writing about sports rules or situations for those that like sports but don't get every call/rule or understand why a player/team did what they did.  If you have any questions related to that feel free to ask away. She says I'm pretty good at breaking it down and explaining it. Until next time, stay classy internet.

Day 2: That equals progress doesn't it?

Well here we are. I've made it to day two and now have as many blogs to match.  I'm calling that a win in my book. Not to much rolling around in this hollow head of mine tonight so I'll just get to it.

Niners Won:
Finally, a good game. Kaepernick played well. It wasn't anything superhuman, but it was consistent and methodical. Frank Gore was awesome in the ground game and the defense finally held up. Now I do realize it was against the Rams, but a win can definitely get the momentum going in the right direction. Hopefully Joe Staley isn't injured to badly. It was a little blood curdling to hear him scream after he got bent backwards.  Good news is he was able to walk off the field and not have to be carted off.

Crying Over Spilled Root beer:
So no matter how many times she is told and how many time outs she is given, my little girl can't seem to grasp the concept that it is not ok to turn her sippy cup upside down and shake it until all the contents  are on the floor. (I'm not sure if that was a run-on sentence or not, but whatever) Anyway, she proceded to empty the entire cup onto the floor and was told that it was naughty and was put in time out. That started a screaming fit that lasted for 20 minutes. Good thing I was distracted by the Niners winning.

Lightbulb Moment Of The Day:
So looking at my local newspaper today I noticed something I have never noticed before. I went back and checked on all the previous papers I still had laying around and there it was on all of them as well.
If you look at the part highlighted in blue, it says: "Missing your paper?" followed by the phone number to call in to report that you haven't got it.  Does this come off a little useless to anyone else? If you're missing your paper you aren't going to have the number published on the paper to report it. I know I know, you could just look at the previous paper. But how many people still have it really? Someones good intention turned pointless I suppose.  Seeing this also reminded me that at a certain fast food place, that features a circus performer as a mascot, has a very similar sign in it drive through.  It says something along the lines of There are picture menus available upon request for those with reading disabilities. Riddle me this, how are they suppose to know they are available if they can't read the sign? Sometimes I just wonder....

Halloween:
I've been thinking about halloween because we have a costume contest at work. I haven't had any brilliant ideas as of yet, but the one that keeps coming back is Bane from the most recent Batman movie. Could be a lot of fun and pretty simple (except for the mask). I welcome any and all ideas. I'm sure someone could give a unique idea.

Turnover On Downs:
Well that wraps it all up for day two. Thanks again for reading through.  Just like last time if you were able to manage through it and if it slightly amused you, please pass it on and share it. Until next time, keep on keepin' on.

Gotta Start Somewhere

So first off, thanks for taking a look. Fair warning for everyone, this will mostly contain a whole lot of random thoughts and useless information that I still have rolling around in my head at the end of the day. Eventually I would like to open it up to questions and what not, but to start it will mostly be my incoherent ramblings :)

Belated B-day Lunch
So one of my coworkers decided to take me out for a late birthday lunch today. He told me that the sandwich shop he was taking me to makes an awesome "cowpie".  I don't know about you, but I grew up in a farm town. The first thing that pops into my mind when I hear the word "cowpie" is not something I would fathom as being awesome. Of course it was not an actual cow by product, but a very large chocolate cookie. I do have to agree with him though, it was a great cookie made better by the fact that I didn't have to pay a dime for it. But just to be safe, if someone offers you a "cowpie", I would still verify that it is an actual edible product before accepting it.

Kaepernicking
Unless Collin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense can figure it out how to get in the end zone soon, Kaepernicking could become even more of a joke the Tebowing was..... SMH.

Red Sox
On a plus note about my favorites sports teams, the Boston Red Sox went from last in the AL East last year to first place in the division this year and could possibly end with the best record in baseball.  Here's to making it to the World Series and hanging another banner. The City of Boston could use something to cheer about after the rough year they've had.

Changing Weather
Does anybody else really dislike having to go from wearing summer clothes to fall clothes to summer clothes to fall clothes to summer clothes and back to fall clothes all by lunch time?!!! Fall just needs to set in so I can stop playing clothing roulette against the weather.

Good News and Bad News
GOOD: Fall TV series are back on, football is back, leaves are changing color, and I'm growing my beard out.
BAD: Schizophrenic weather, no good movie releases until Thanksgiving time, and the 49ers are 1-2.

Well that wraps it up for tonight. Thanks for suffering through it. If you liked it share it and let your friends know. Feel free to leave comments or questions.
